Gratitude for The Wealthy

Gratitude for The Wealthy

There once was a woman named Liz—a woman of strength, wisdom, and undeniable influence. She had built a legacy that spanned generations, yet the foundation of her success was not rooted in strategy alone, nor in mere hard work. Her legacy was built upon gratitude. Every morning, before the weight of the world pressed upon her shoulders, she knelt before the Almighty with a heart full of thanksgiving. She understood that true wealth was not measured by the money in her account but by the posture of her heart.

Liz had watched many people chase success, only to be destroyed by their own ungratefulness. She saw how some squandered opportunities because they failed to value them. She observed how others wasted time complaining instead of stewarding what they had been given. But Liz chose a different path. She chose to see every challenge as an opportunity, every setback as a lesson, and every blessing as an assignment.

The Heart of Gratitude Before God

Healing begins in the presence of the Almighty, and gratitude is the gateway. Many seek breakthroughs, promotions, and favor, but their hearts are hardened by entitlement and bitterness. They want more but have yet to honor what they already have.

Scripture reminds us:

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18, ESV)

When we come before God with grateful hearts, we shift our focus from what we lack to what we have. This shift is healing. It aligns our vision with heaven’s perspective, allowing us to make better decisions, hear divine guidance clearly, and treat others with the same grace that has been given to us.

Liz had once struggled with disappointment. She had worked tirelessly to build a business, yet doors kept closing. Instead of falling into bitterness, she turned to gratitude. She thanked God for the lessons, the closed doors, and even the failures. Soon, new opportunities emerged—ones that aligned with her true purpose. Looking back, she realized that gratitude had positioned her for the wealth she was now walking in.

Gratitude in Everyday Life

Gratitude is not just an emotion—it is a discipline. It affects how we manage our time, resources, and relationships. A person with a wealthy mindset sees time as an investment, while one with a poverty mindset sees it as something to be wasted. The wealthy-minded individual values opportunities and maximizes them, whereas the one lacking gratitude complains about what they do not have.

Consider these contrasts:

  • Wealthy Mindset:

    • Grateful for opportunities → Maximizes them

    • Sees time as valuable → Invests it wisely

    • Honors relationships → Builds strong networks

    • Recognizes abundance → Gives generously

  • Non-Wealthy Mindset:

    • Ungrateful for opportunities → Misses them

    • Sees time as disposable → Wastes it on distractions

    • Takes people for granted → Burns bridges

    • Focuses on lack → Withholds from others

Proverbs 10:4 (ESV) states:

“A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.”

Diligence flows from gratitude. When we are grateful for what we have, we take care of it, nurture it, and multiply it. Those who mishandle what God has given them often struggle to see increase because they lack appreciation for their current portion.

The Challenge: Cultivating a Wealthy Mindset

Gratitude is the foundation of a life that flourishes. It is not reserved for those who already have abundance—it is the path to abundance. Today, I challenge you to:

  1. Begin each day with thanksgiving – Write down three things you are grateful for and speak them aloud in prayer.

  2. Honor what you have now – Whether it’s a small paycheck, a modest home, or a growing business, steward it well.

  3. Value time and relationships – Spend your time wisely, and cherish the people God has placed in your life.

  4. Give generously – Whether it’s your resources, wisdom, or encouragement, sow into others.

Colossians 3:17 (ESV) reminds us:

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

A life built on gratitude is a life of wealth—not just in finances but in wisdom, relationships, and purpose. May we be people who walk in the abundance God has for us by first honoring what we have been given.

How will you steward your blessings today?
